謝謝你, 就是你 by ZPGY

My group of friends and I (we call ourselves ZPGY aka 猪朋狗友) recently composed/ produced a song 謝謝你, 就是你, inspired by the recent Sichuan earthquake. We hope to spread it to China and even share with the rest of the world.

The ZPGYs comprise of local singers, musicians, and others. Some familiar faces you might spot include Tay Kewei, Chanel Pang, Ruth Chua, Dawn Wong, EinEin, etc. We all came together as one and piece this whole project with our efforts.

The song mixing and video filming/ editing may not be as professional, but it contains our blood and perspiration.

We’re in the midst of negotiating to have our song included in a compilation album.

Till then, I hope to share this self-filmed MV with you and pls do continue to spread our love to your friends and let it chain on!

Don't forget to rate/ leave comments after you view it!! :)))

Writer's Block

I'm not a writer (well, at least not professionally). But I sure have been suffering from Writer's Block, truly.

O K . . . K I T T Y . . . C U T T H E C R A P ! ! ! ! !

*SLAPS*

******************************************************

It's been 8.5mths since I joined my current company. And that's how long Keishi's been in London.

Keishi, hurry come back!!!

*****************************************************

I travelled twice in the last 1.5mths.

Hong Kong --- April 24th - 28th
Travelled with family. To visit relatives. If you do not already know, yes, I have grand-uncle, uncles, aunties, cousins, etc. in HK.

The story went something like this...

Many donkey mule years ago, my grandma + siblings left China (our hometown was Fuzhou) in search of greener pastures. My grandma decided to settle in Singapore, whereas the others opted for HK.

Yes, that's how I ended up landing in Singapore. I could have carried a Hong Kong passport, lived in a country with 4 seasons (although no snow), and worn pretty winter clothes. My circle of friends could have had more cute guys!

There could have been many more "could have's"... but... oh well... that's life for ya....

Bangkok --- May 8th - 11th
Travelled with friends. 10 of them to be exact. Lemme share with you our manifest.

Initial group to travel consisted of 4 poly friends -----
Jordan + Arthur + Kendrik + Me

Then 2 more joined in -----
Jordan + Jordan's GF + Arthur + Arthur's Colleague + Kendrik + Me

Another 3 decided to tag along -----
Jordan + Jordan's GF + Arthur + Arthur's Colleague + Kendrik + Me + My Best Pal + My Best Pal's Hubby + My Best Pal's Hubby's Younger Brother

Before we could say "HUH?!", Traveller #10 booked his ticket -----
Jordan + Jordan's GF + Arthur + Arthur's Colleague + Kendrik + Me + My Best Pal + My Best Pal's Hubby + My Best Pal's Hubby's Younger Brother + Our Poly Pakistani Friend

Verdict --- Always keep to maximum 5 in a single travel group to avoid over-exhausting yourself.

ZPGY has been Sugie-less since March '08, eversince he received the Golden Ticket to Taipei to compete in 星光大道3. Who would expect that the first to be eliminated from 绝对Superstar 1 would make it this far in an even bigger scale singing contest!!

Correction.

I have expected this day to come. From the first time I saw Sugie perform on TV in 2005, I knew there was something special him, but, sadly, his hidden appeal wasn't appreciated/ discovered by many then.

Sugie, you've made ZPGY proud, for making it into Top 9 in 星光3. You may be taking a break now. But you'll shine in the upcoming revival round. We root for you.

We miss Sugie.

******************************************************

Wejian's gone to Taipei too, for a month. Finally recording for his debut album has completed. Warner's arranged for him to take dance lessons from a very reputable Taiwanese celebrity dance instructor. Another SUPER reputable MV director will be taking care of his MVs! Whooosh!!!

Jian's becoming a real celebrity singer! Whooosh!!!

We love Jian. He's suchhhhhhhhhh an adorable boy. So genuine and real. He's a gem.

Chanel was deeply saddened by Sichuan Earthquake, which in turn, inspired her to write a song "谢谢你,就是你". Because ZPGY is made up of so many multi-talented talents, the song was very quickly passed on to Ein, Mark & Jinsei for arrangement.

Kewei hooked us with Stereo Image (Thanks Michael!) and before we knew it, over 20 ZPGY friends were walking into recording studio and singing Chanel's song!

I just listened to the first mix. Though still raw, it's incredible!!!

The voices you'll hear:
  1. Chanel Pang 冯靖莹 (绝对Superstar 1)
  2. Ruth Chua 蔡诗妮 (绝对Superstar 1)
  3. Dawn Wong 黄川美 (绝对Superstar 2)
  4. Tay Kewei 可为 (Need no further introduction)
  7. Xie Buwei
  9. Kitty ALA ME!
  10. Alfred Sim
  11. Wilman Lau
  12. Laxe Yong
  13. Juliana Poh
  14. Josh Bryan Ho
  15. Siow Bih
  16. Ah Gong
  17. YC
  18. Mad Chen
  19. Steph Lee
  20. Edmund Cheh
  21. Donny Cheh
  22. Augusniko Loh
  23. Biqin

We'll be producing CDs for sale to our friends/ colleagues/ families/ relatives/ classmates/ fans/ ex-girlfriends/ ex-boyfriends/ what-nots. Proceeds raised will be in aid of the unfortunate. If you belong to any category above, good luck to you. We'll be knocking on your doors soon.

3 Months Later...

No... I didn't stay in HK for 3 mths. Neither did I get lost in HK. It was plain laziness. Guilty!

And I came back to find that my total no. of hits has reached over 10k! Whoa!

Over the course of 3mths (after my 4D3N HK trip), many things happened in my life...

  1. April 1st weekend: Warner-Chappell Taiwan invited me to a Warner songwriters music sharing session in KL, and I got upclose and personal with some of the most talented Warner Music songwriters from Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan, who have written pop Mandarin songs like 人质、平常心、我要快乐、黑白化映、一公尺、爱无力、答案、随堂测验、魅力燃烧、我的爱、眼泪成诗、原点、 and many many more......
  2. April 2nd week: In Bangkok with 3 guy friends, and shopped till we dropped!
  3. Amber got in as one of the top 18 bands in SuperBand (a new competition, following Project Superstar, Campus Superstar & SuperHost, initiated by Channel U)
  4. I stood in for Junli as wubbie for some of SuperBand episodes, and befriended the other SuperBand contestants.
  5. May: Attended 11th COMPASS Awards Presentation, where I met Stefanie Sun, JJ Lin, Dick Lee, Joi Chua, and a whole bunch of songwriters & music publishers.
  6. I began a weekly affair with MJ.
  7. ......
Anyways, do stay tuned for more details on the above-mentioned events... and other events that might just pop into my head along the way......

Disorientation At Lunch

After giving it ALOT of thought, I have made up my mind!!! I decided...... to have economical rice (aka 菜饭) for lunch today! *Tsk tsk*

Me (points at kangkong):
Ah, auntie, 我要这个。

Auntie:
还有呢?

Me (points at some fried meat chunks):
这个是什么?

Auntie:
猪肉。

Me:
噢,OK,我要这个。

Auntie:
还有呢?
(this is probably the most commonly used phrase amongst all 菜饭 aunties/uncles)

Me:
Hmmm... curry chicken。

At this moment, the auntie threw me a disturbed look.

Auntie:
你还要鸡肉?
(note that she stressed on “还要”.)

I threw back an equally disturbed look and nodded my head.

Come on lah, what's wrong with having both pork and chicken? Cannot have 2 meat + 1 veg meh? Duh!

Just before the auntie closed the lid of my 菜饭 box, she added in a fried egg (I assumed it's FOC). Duh! Like the extra egg's gonna make the meal healthier loh! The best part was, she charged me a bloody $4.50 for my 2-meat-1-veg meal! Economical rice?! *PUI*

Anywayz, I da-bao my lunch and bought some cut fruits (watermelon + apples) at another stall on my way back to office.

Back in office, I was just about to start on my fruits when, to my dismay, I realised, instead of apples, the fruits auntie gave me honeydew!!! Arghhh!

H-E-L-L-O!!! 苹果 and 蜜瓜 don't sound alike at all lor!!!

What's wrong with people today?!?!?!

*Gasps*

My SuperFriends - The Dinner

Last night - I had dinner with Kelly (yes, Channel U Project Superstar's Kelly Poon), Weixiong (our very own 933 part-time DJ cum SuperHost finalist), Kewei (the vocalist cum erhu player cum Tango dancer at the recent David Tao's Singapore concert), together with the bunch of our common friends.

Kelly has already started recording her album and it should be out in January 2006 (if all goes well, that is). So all those who've been waiting till their necks have grown longer, just hang on there for a while more!

Weixiong has been very busy with SuperHost preparations, having to be at MediaCorp almost everyday that kinda stuff. Btw, who watched the opening dance (by all 16 finalists) on Tuesday? We kept teasing Weixiong that his dancing was "superb" and that it was one of a kind! Hahaha... well, Weixiong isn't exactly the hip-hop kinda person. But let's still give him a pat on the back for his efforts and diligent practises. Hahaha... (I can't help but laugh again, at the thought of him dancing.)

The first females' round just ended on Tuesday. Next week, it'll be the males' first round. Yes, harsh reality (or some may call it pure cruelty) has sunk in. Everyone's on the tip of their toes, and watching their own backs.

娱乐圈是黑暗的。

Having ended his Love Can World Tour 2005 in Singapore last Saturday (26/11/05), David Tao has departed Singapore. Singapore's the 3rd Asian stop, after Shanghai and Beijing. His next destination will be Taipei in January. If you didn't manage to catch his concert, all I can say is... what a pity!! It was SUPERB! Much better than his 2003 concert. This time round, he was in tip top form, hence was able to deliver his singing very well!

My seat was GREAT! My view was GREAT! (Thanks Kewei, for choosing the seats!)

What was extra special about this concert was that my friend, Kewei, was part of the concert, taking on the roles of David Tao's vocalist AND erhu player AND Tango dance partner. Overall, Kewei played David's "love interest" throughout the concert.

The feeling of seeing my idol and my friend performing together on stage was beyond what words could describe. I was so high that night! I'm exhilarated for Kewei. It's her dream come true. Imagine, being able to travel with David Tao and Kheng Long (the concert's music director) and the entire band (who are all extremely talented people) all over Asia! After Taipei, they'll be heading for Hong Kong, Malaysia and even the States, I heard.

Oh wellz, what else can I say except that I have SuperFriends!

Woohooo...~
